Preparing for My First AFCWA Convention

Every January since we started dating back in 2010, my husband has left to go hang out with his coaching buddies, learn new strategies in the game of football, and gain more connections in this field of coaching that sometimes feels huge but is actually quite small at the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). It wasn't until about 2015 that I realized there was a wives portion of this convention (American Football Coaches Wives Association), and each year after I have been dying for the opportunity to get to be a part of it!

I haven't been able to attend for various reasons, ranging from me having to work that weekend, not having the extra funds to be able to swing it, or not knowing what our future holds. In the last five years that I have known about it (and since starting this blog) I have had the opportunity to become close with so many coach wives that I have met right here on the internet. I have one friend in particular who I would consider a close friend and mentor in this Coach Wife Life, and we have never even met in person!

This year, due to several factors that have swung in my favor, I am able to attend the conference for the first time!! I can't even express to you all of my excitement!

While the conference also happens to be in one of my favorite cities this year (Nashville), the thing I'm the most excited about is getting to meet some of my fellow coach's wives. There are so many amazing women I have been able to connect with through this blog, and I could pee my pants- I'm so excited to meet them!

There will be loads of people there, and I'm sure I will feel overwhelmed at times, but I'm just so ready to get to be a part of something I have been yearning for for the last 5 years.

I have lots of unknowns at this point (like what do I wear?), so I will plan to come back and write up a blog about my experiences, what to expect, and what to wear, upon my return!
